I'm already getting bookings for the workshops next year, which is fantastic. So, to be sure of
a place please contact me now!

Another brilliant day yesterday with Rob Harbron leading, luckily for us his voice held out
despite having Laryngitis.

A busy fortnight, have confirmed bookings for both Pete Cooper on Sunday 26th February
(please note later time) and Johnny Coppin is returning to us on Sunday 10th May

Rob Habron confirmed to lead a workshop to be held on Sunday 30th October. Rob is one of
the tutors from the Summer School and is a wonderful leader.

We've had good musical summer. Some of us from the session have been playing for Dursley
Farmer's Market every month since March and we've been very lucky with the weather in spite
of it having been a pretty dismal summer this year. A couple of us had a marvellous week at
the English Acoustic Collective Summer School held at Ruskin Mill in July. I thoroughly
recommend it, I've learnt a massive amount about music and how to play it from the fantastic
tutors.

We had a great day yesterday with Dave Townsend and his wife Mandy. We always come
home after the workshops brimming with ideas. Just need to put some of them into practice!

We played for the second time at the Dursley Farmer's Market this morning. Fantastic, it was
really warm and sunny! I thoroughly recommend the bread stall.

Have just heard today that the organisers of the Farmer's Market would like us to play there
every month. The market is held on 2nd saturday of the month.

Some of us who play at the White Lion played for Dursley Farmer's Market this morning, for the
market's grand re-opening. Apart from freezing in our boots, we had a really good time, with
a great response both from the traders and the public who were there to buy the wonderful
produce for sale at the market.

Another brilliant day with Kevin Dempsey. Thanks Kevin!

John Kirkpatrick has confirmed date for a return visit. This will be Sunday 22nd April 2012,
details of content tbc. I'm sure we can be patient!

Happy New Year!

Kevin dempsey has asked me to act as his agent for a solo tour next year, so if you'd like Kevin
to come and play at your venue do contact me please. Kevin also enjoys playing house gigs so
if your is suitable again let me know.

Dave Townsend is coming to us for a day workshop in April. Details here as soon as I have
them.

A stunning day with John Kirkpatrick yesterday. He always shares so much knowledge with us
to take way and put into practice in our own playing. Hoping we can arrange another day nthis
time next year.

Kevin Dempsey confirmed to lead another stunning workshop on 20th February 2011!

After spending far too much time this summer trying out pubs suitable for our session I'm
delighted to be able to announce that we are playing every Wednesday at the White Lion,
Cambridge , Glos. Starting at 8pm as usual.H

We played at the George last night in memory of Mike on the day of his funeral.

Just heard the sad news that Mike Reynolds the landlord of George Inn at Frocester has died
suddenly. Our condolances to his family.

John Kirkpatrick has just confirmed that he will be leading a workshop for us on Sunday 7th
November 2010. Marvellous!

Wow! what can one say about Kevin Dempsey apart from fantastic. Take 1 harp, 3 fiddles, 2
guitars, 1 mandolin, 1 melodeon and an accordian, add a good tune and Kevin. Result - a band
playing a full performance arrangement of Bear Dance.

Great news have confirmed today a workshop with Johnny Coppin, see Events page for details.

Many thanks to the Rotary Club members for their kind response to our playing for them in The
George last night. Their generosity has meant that we have been able to donate £25 to The
British Heart Foundation

What an amazing day we had yesterday, it was really good to see new faces and catch up with
old friends.

John Kirkpatrick is a fantastic leader, he created a very special atmosphere for us, educational,
inspirational and great fun all at the same time. I'm delighted to be able to announce that JK
has agreed to return next year, to look at music from 16th -18th century. I will let you know
the date and more information as soon as I can.

Meanwhile I am taking bookings for Kevin Dempsey in February. So come along and learn how
to do more with the tunes you already play.

The session move to the George at Frocester is working well. We're looking forward to the
John Kirkpatrick workshop on Sunday. Have started planning next years workshops, will update
site as soon as there is definite news.

A wonderful workshop with Laurel Swift yesterday. We all worked hard, learnt a lot and
laughed a lot. Working with Laurel is a great fun, especially when she puts her clogs on (see
gallery). We had the added bonus of cake, thank you Judy.

A good night at The George Inn in Frocester, good pub, good beer, good company.
So how could the music not be good as well? Return visit next week 7th October.

Went to see Morris - A Life with Bells On this afternoon.
Great fun especially as there were two Morris side dancing outside the Electric Picture House in
Wotton Under Edge between performances.

Laurel Swift metioned in credits more times than I could keep up with! Choreographer and
Double bass player to name just two. Quite a lady!

There is still time to book your place on her workshop

Session arranged this coming Wednesday 30th September at the George Inn at Frocester.
Starting 8pm. All welcome

We have had two very enjoyable garden sessions at the Old Crown in Uley. both afternoons
dry and sunny, although today we did get a littlle chilly. Some would say we were either brave
or stupid to even try and arrange anything outside in view of the general climatic conditions this
summer.

John Kirkpatrick booked for 29th November!

John Kirkpatrick has just agreed to come to Dursley and run a mid-winter festival workshop.
Details to come.

Have just returned from an inspiring week long workshop in France. The leaders were Joe
Broughton and Kevin Dempsey. We had wonderful weather, food and wine. Joe and Kevin
work really well together and the culmination of the week was an evening gig and barbecue in
the village of Bercloux in front of an audience which included the Mayor. Have been talking to
Kevin about the possibilty of leading a workshop for us. He is a superb guitarist, with a very
distinctive approach to playing traditional music.

Laurel Swift is going to lead a workshop for us in October. We fisrt saw Laurel at Gosport
Festival, where she was running the Festival Band. The results that Laurel achieved with some
very nervous, inexperienced musicians was fantastic. So looking forward to 4th October.

Booking started for Winter season of workshops.

We were delighted to welcome Rod Stradling back after the success of the half day workshop
last November. Rod as always provided an entertaining day, worked us hard and inspired us to
go and practice those tunes. Highlight of the day had to be Rod's dancing demonstration, to
prove that if you get the timing wrong you are likely to cause the dancers to fall over.
